I’m Melanie Crawley, a versatile trained actor with a great ear for accents and a talent for naturalistic dialogue and believable characterisation.

I’m a double-Earphone and VOX award-winning and critically acclaimed British voice actor based in Sheffield in the UK. A northern lass - grit, comedy and down-to-earth, no-nonsense honesty characterise my approach as an actor. I’m a highly skilled performer, narrating easily in northern accented English, neutral RP and a mid-Atlantic accent.

I trained as an actor for my degree at Manchester Metropolitan University although did not begin working professionally as an actor until 2016. I’ve performed on stage at The Crucible Theatre, Hope Mill Theatre and The Theatre By the Lake and appeared on the long running ITV series Coronation St and in a number of short films. Always having loved working with my voice I took additional training in order to work across the audiobook, audio drama & comedy, commercial and corporate VO industries. I’ve now narrated over 160 audiobooks and work regularly with big publishers and independent authors alike.

I narrate audiobooks across multiple genres but am particularly known for psychological thrillers, romance, literary fiction and memoir. My most popular titles include the Micklewick Bay series for Dreamscape, The Bookish Escapes series for Harper Collins and the Thrown Away Children series for W F Howes (RB Media). Favourite recent titles include ‘Stolen’ by Deborah Moggach for Bolinda, ‘No Place to Hide’ by Rebecca Griffiths for Dreamscape and ‘The Parallel Path’ by Jenn Ashworth for Hachette.

I am also honoured to work with Audible Originals, BBC, Tantor, Podium, Penguin Random House, Bloomsbury and directly with authors as narrator and producer.

I am a proud member of Spotlight, Equity, Audio UK and in the US, PANA and the APA.
