Karla Wren

Warm, wry, honest, funny-American accent, but also proficient at RP British.

Hi! I'm a Chicago-based narrator and EMC actor. I have my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and am an avid reader. I have extensive training in Shaw and Shakespeare, as well as education in on-camera and voiceover work and understand the importance of bringing text to life. I like to do a little bit of everything, but I think I excel at Horror, Mysteries, Young Adult books, and stories that have smart female characters. I am proficient with an RP British accent and I meet with a dialect coach weekly. Please feel free to reach out to me with questions!

Here is a sample from Stephen King's IT. A highlight of this sample is the creepy clown voice.
Here is a sample from Judy Blume's ARE YOU THERE GOD? IT'S ME, MARGARET which outlines the tribulations of a sixth-grade girl trying to make sense of the world.
This is a selection from Merril Markoe's COOL, CALM, AND CONTENTIOUS where she discusses the relationship that she has with her mother.
British sample from AN UNSUITABLE JOB FOR A WOMAN by P.D. James. This section humorously highlights detective Cordelia Gray.
From THE BELL JAR by Sylvia Plath. Her novel outlines a young woman's struggle with depression. Here is a sample of her discussing the Rosenberg's execution, which foreshadows her later experience with ECT.
