Avian Jangula

I am an actor/director and an indie author of queer fiction, looking to expand my audiobook narration career from only ACX to larger publishers. I have completed almost 40 audiobooks since I began narration in December 2024.
What Narrations I Enjoy: I am open to pretty much any genre of narration, but my favorites are cozy mysteries, romantasies, YA, historical fiction, horror (creature, erotic, or body-mod fine,) and thrillers. I also enjoy various kinds of non-fiction, including true crime, medical/mortuary science, and historical documentaries. My only hard no is right-wing politics.
My Education: I have a Bachelor's degree in Directing for Theatre from Drake University, with a minor in writing.
My Theatre Training: I have performed onstage in musicals, straight plays, Shakespeare, and various Japanese theatre styles including kabuki and noh. I started on stage in childhood and continued through college and early adulthood until I took a break during Covid and began to focus more on writing.
My Career Background: I have had to wear many hats in my more than 25 years in the workforce. I have worked in food service, retail, customer service, a live-show television producer, a supervisor and a manager, a stage manager and director, and an independent author under the pseudonym Kit Barrie. I worked for 15 years in corporate at a TV shopping network in a variety of jobs, most recently as a Broadcast Logistics Manger, which involved a lot of scheduling and communication, as well as taking on random projects that needed to be done.
Who I Am: I love comedy, wit, and snark, but I take my work very seriously and always strive to be honest and authentic. I want to tell stories people are passionate about. I am currently fully self-employed as an audiobook narrator and an independent author of queer fiction, with over 10 self-published titles in various genres. I have consistently worked from ACX with no gaps in projects since I started narrating in December 2024. I am a member of PANA, and I have a home studio set up.
Fun Facts: I am an animal lover and have fostered over 200 cats and kittens. My dad's family emigrated from Japan, and I love anything Japanese. I am a huge geek: pop culture, animation, gaming, and I go to a lot of geeky conventions as an author. I love crafting and am always picking up new hobbies (yay for ADHD hyperfixation!)
