I am a best selling author with a Universal Pictures adaptation of my first book. This will be my second. I will consider using a single female narrator (rather than Dual Narration) if the female can do the voice of John as listed in the notes below.

GENERAL NOTES FROM THE AUTHOR:
I want a storyteller, not a radio drama. The book has multiple characters and I want them to feel distinct — but through subtle shifts in tone, pacing, and emotional energy. Not heavy accents, pitch changes, or impersonations.

For the main Female character Kathleen: Warm, intelligent, storyteller energy. Subtle character shifts; not performances.
For the main male character John: Cold, controlled, quiet menace. The danger is in the stillness; not volume.

FOR FEMALE NARRATORS (reading everyone EXCEPT the main male character, John):
When you're reading male characters (Tommy, Rashad, Orson, Kenny, Frank, Detective Johnson) don't try to sound like a man. Don't lower your voice or do a male impression. Just portray them through shifts in energy and emotion, staying in your natural voice. The writing tells us who's speaking. Your job is to bring the character's emotional truth, not their gender. Think Gone Girl, The Silent Patient, Big Little Lies — that tone.

Ladies, if you know a male narrator who can work to the specifications for the male part listed below, please let them know (or maybe suggest them to the author?). Bonus points if you've worked together before.

FOR MALE NARRATORS (reading for the main male character, John, only):
Lower register. Controlled. Quiet menace — unsettling calm, not theatrical villainy. The danger is in the stillness. Think: someone who whispers threats, not shouts them. John is a predator. He watches people through hidden cameras. He's clinical, detached, methodical. Not a cackling villain — that would be too easy to dismiss. He's the guy who seems normal until you realize he's been documenting your life for years. I need a voice that makes listeners uncomfortable without knowing exactly why.
