This is a near-future financial thriller set in Philadelphia. The narration should feel grounded and cinematic -- think Aaron Sorkin pacing with a noir undercurrent. The protagonist Jack Caruso is a South Philly Italian-American in his early 30s: intelligent, idealistic, increasingly desperate. The corporate antagonists (Richard and Charles Owens) should sound polished and coldly authoritative. The overall tone is urgent and propulsive, not melodramatic.
