Can a lovelorn jingle writer with a fainting problem help turn the tide of the war?

1943 Brooklyn, New York

Wally Lipkin is a gifted Brooklyn piano player with one dangerous secret: an anxiety condition that causes him to faint at the worst possible moments.

With his eighteenth birthday fast approaching, Uncle Sam will soon come calling, sending Wally overseas to fight a prospect that could amount to a death sentence for someone with his condition. But admitting the truth could be just as dangerous. If anyone discovers his problem, Wally fears he'll be committed to a sanatorium, just like his troubled uncle.

Desperate to find another way, Wally teams up with his brother Max and their friend Frankie to enter a radio station jingle contest. The prize? Local fame, fifty clams, and, most importantly, a stateside government job. Winning could give Wally the chance to serve his country without risking his life on a foreign battlefield.

Then an alluring singer with the looks of a motion-picture starlet enters the picture, and Wally's carefully laid plans begin to unravel.

Suddenly, there's far more at stake than winning a contest. As romance, music, and wartime intrigue collide, Wally discovers that the choices he makes—and the jingles he writes could put his own life in danger... and perhaps even help turn the tide of the war.
