Arcing

Looking for dual or duet (preferred) narration for Rosa and Dan (please note whether audition is for dual or duet)

Rosa is a 19-year-old Latina who's grown up multilingual in the middle of the US and Dan is a 21-year-old Korean-American who has grown up similarly. The story is aimed at upper Gen-Z readers (and is being published in eBook by a Gen-Z editor.) There is romance but this is not a Romance (no HEA). The book is spec-adjacent (the audition script is the most overt part of the speculative portion of the story.) The tone overall centers around Rosa being on her own for the first time and making major life decisions regarding love and her family, where love loses out and her family comes first. There are 2 POV's, 1st person: Rosa and Dan.

Audition script is from Rosa's POV. Dan auditions please read it straight as though it were from Dan (ie, use a Rosa voice on her spoken dialogue but read the rest as though Dan were narrating his own POV.)

Both voices should be mid-range for their respective genders and lean towards adult vs young adult in pitch, style, and tone. Rosa's voice should be firm and grounded (no breathiness except in a specific indicated moment). She is direct and often seems flat or unemotive to other characters, but still feels things deeply. She has learned to temper her emotions. The reader should still hear her emotions - the audition script has a lot of concern and worry in it, for example. Rosa's motivations stem from a position of self-preservation with her family but also needing freedom to protection of her younger sisters. She's doing the best she can with the tools available to her.

Dan is genial and expressive. He ranges from flirty to brooding (but more young adult brooding than Romance-lead brooding). In the audition script, he is happy having breakfast with Rosa and completely unconcerned about a potential nuerological disease. Dan's motivations start out with a one-night stand but become more obsessive over Rosa until her family's needs push him out.

Other primary character voices for both actors with be Rosa's 2 younger sisters, an adult Black woman (social worker), Dan's white boyfriend Bob. There are more characters, Rosa's mother, Rosa's two friends, Bob's boss, but these voices are less important to be particularly distinct.

15k total words, POV word count for dual is 51/49 Rosa:Dan split.
Payment will be PFH. Dual length for payment will be determined by each POV word count. Lead narrator additional for final, integrated, file.
If duet narration, I am open to either a fully produced file at a higher rate OR taking both narrators' final files and editing together myself. (Note, I would still expect the standard editing for mouth noises for a clean file delivered to me.)
Final product will be placed in wide-audiobook availability. Promotion will take place concurrent with the ebook promotion. I am a new author growing my audience.
